Cascavelle Shopping Mall (Coastal Road) – located 35 minutes (19 km.) southwest of Port Louis (near Flic en Flac beach area), this shopping center has a variety of international and regional retailers, a 2,500m² supermarket (the South African chain “Pick n Pay”), designer shops, every day service providers, and an attractive food court and restaurants (even the South African burger restaurant “Steers” – reflecting the tourists that have been arriving from that country). In addition, Cascavelle provides 400 parking spots.

The latter consists of 36 stands set up on a double-floor open bazaar in a unique atmosphere permeated with the exotic scents of spices, essential oils and artisanal soaps. Feast your eyes on a plethora of colorful beach sarongs, embroidered linen, recycled and stained glass objects, semi precious stones, wooden sculptures, basketwork, souvenirs made out of coconut, wood or glass, as well as a creative range of regional handicraft and cultural traditions from Mauritius, Rodrigues and Madagascar.

For those who want to eat, instead of drinking, The Beach House’s menu is very varied — from local cuisine, to Portuguese, Mexican, Italian, French, Asian and even intercontinental.

It boasts around 70 beers from around the world, sold in the glass walled shop, including craft beers from America, Belgian Trappist beers and Young’s Double Chocolate Stout. It also serves beer-battered fish and chips in newspaper, and specialties are game with beer-based sauces. This bar also has its own microbrewery (“The Flying Dodo Brewing Company “ –at Bagatelle shopping center).
